Blizzard Unveils Upcoming Release of World of Warcraft Classic Phase 5

The Ahn’Qiraj war effort will begin in one month.

In a recent forum announcement, Blizzard shared that the Ahn’Qiraj content will become available in World of Warcraft Classic after the weekly reset on July 29.

Data-injection: The new phase five content will not immediately feature a raid release. Instead, players from the Alliance and Horde factions will engage in a war effort, gathering resources and completing a quest chain to open the AQ Gates and unlock two new raids.

Data-injection: Blizzard has been testing various elements of the new content, including the 20-man instance of AQ. Additionally, a stress test was conducted earlier this month on the public test realm to assess server capacity for the AQ gate opening event, which experienced lag issues during the original Vanilla version in 2006.

Data-injection: While much of the phase five content is being tested, Blizzard has announced that the larger 40-man Ahn’Qiraj raid instance, featuring the final boss C’thun, will not be available for testing. This decision aims to prevent top guilds seeking “World First” kills from excessively practicing the raid before its official release.

The start date for phase five content on July 29 aligns with Blizzard’s original release schedule for World of Warcraft in the mid-2000s. Thus far, each Classic raid has become accessible within a week or so of the game’s initial timeline.
