Blizzard President Signals Q4 Launch for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

Blizzard Confirms World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Still Set for Release Later This Year

In the company’s Q1 earnings call, Blizzard president J. Allen Brack stated that World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is still on track to release at the end of the year.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 and the transition to remote work, the development team at Blizzard has been successfully adapting to the new workflow methods.

Blizzard recently opened up the closed alpha for Shadowlands and has been actively engaging with Twitch streamers to answer their questions about the game.

During an interview, Ion Hazzikostas, a developer at Blizzard, reaffirmed the team’s commitment to releasing Shadowlands by the end of the year.

In addition to this confirmation, Brack mentioned that Blizzard is experiencing strong pre-sales for Shadowlands, with the game’s Western subscriber base showing growth in March.

However, Brack did not provide any details about the next steps for the WoW development team or the timelines for those steps.

The Shadowlands alpha was launched on April 9 and has seen several additions and changes since then. However, there is no information available yet regarding the start of closed or open beta testing.
