Asmongold addresses criticism of his impact on WoW Classic

Top WoW Streamer Accused of “Failing the Game”

Zach “Asmongold,” the popular streamer of World of Warcraft: Classic, has recently faced accusations of “failing the game” in a post on Reddit. Asmongold has since responded to these claims, sparking further discussion among fans.

Fans claim that Asmongold has been finding ways to bypass certain aspects of WoW: Classic in order to make the game easier and reduce the need for grinding. These alleged workarounds include accessing mounts easily, quest markers, and using the Scarlet Monastery to level up more quickly.

The author of the Reddit post expressed disappointment, stating, “There’s a million reasons why we all wanted classic WoW, but I think it’s really sad that [Asmongold] and many streamers criticized BFA and claimed they would play classic differently, only to now beg for gold and items.”

Asmongold himself directly responded to these accusations, questioning the permissibility of such hate threads on Reddit. He expressed surprise that the moderators allow these threads to stay up, as he believes it goes against the site’s rules.

Interestingly, just a few days prior to this incident, fellow Twitch streamer Michael “shroud” Grzesiek praised Asmongold, referring to him as “the perfect World of Warcraft streamer” due to his ability to effectively engage with viewers while playing the game.

Since the launch of WoW: Classic on August 26, Asmongold has experienced a significant increase in viewership, accumulating over 15 million video views, gaining more than 165,000 new followers, and quickly becoming one of the fastest-growing channels on the platform.
