Asmongold achieves record viewership on Twitch by capitalizing on the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard verdict

Asmongold’s Twitch Channel Sets Record as Verdict of Depp-Heard Trial is Revealed

Popular streamer Asmongold has been closely following the defamation trial between actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard for the past six weeks. Yesterday, his Twitch channel reached a new milestone when the verdict was announced, attracting nearly 450,000 concurrent viewers.

New Peak Viewership for Asmongold

According to statistics from SullyGnome, Asmongold achieved a personal record for peak viewership during the stream. This is a notable achievement for a streamer primarily known for MMO gaming content.

Highs and Lows for Asmongold

Prior to this event, Asmongold’s previous highest peak on Twitch occurred in February. This marked his return to streaming after a four-month break, during which he mourned the loss of his mother. At that time, he reached nearly 286,000 viewers and later achieved almost 428,000 viewers.

Asmongold’s Dedication to the Trial

During the past month, Asmongold spent more time than usual in the Just Chatting category on Twitch. This allowed him to livestream and provide reaction content for the Depp-Heard trial. In May alone, he devoted 162 hours to the trial, surpassing the total hours he spent in the category in February and March combined (103 hours).

Competing for Viewership

The final week of the trial also boosted Asmongold’s overall viewership as he vied with xQc to become the most-watched content creator on Twitch. In the last seven days, Asmongold accumulated 6,373,990 hours watched, just falling short of xQc’s figures of over 6.4 million hours. It is worth noting that xQc also devoted some time to watching the trial.
