Achieving Twitch Affiliate status: A guide

How to Become a Twitch Affiliate and Start Earning

Streaming on Twitch can be more than just a hobby. Some people are able to turn it into a profitable venture by becoming a Twitch Affiliate.

What is Twitch Affiliate?

While becoming a partnered streamer like NickMercs, Ninja, DrLupo, or TimTheTatman may be difficult for many, achieving affiliate status on Twitch is an attainable goal. This status allows streamers to earn money without meeting the same requirements as a Partner.

How to Become a Twitch Affiliate

So, how can you become a Twitch Affiliate? It’s simple: start streaming, gain followers, and get viewers.

But what exactly does this entail? Let’s break it down.

Requirements for Twitch Affiliate Status

There are specific metrics that you need to meet in order to automatically achieve Affiliate status on Twitch.

Firstly, you must have at least 50 followers. You can easily attain this by leveraging social media and inviting friends to follow your stream. It’s worth noting that you don’t even need to be live to gain followers.

In addition to gaining followers, you need to demonstrate consistency by streaming for a minimum of 500 minutes over the course of 30 days. This should be spread across seven unique broadcasts. During this time, you must maintain an average of at least three concurrent viewers.

If you already have a Twitch channel, you can easily track your progress towards achieving Affiliate status on your creator dashboard.

To check your progress, simply click on your avatar in the top right corner of the Twitch homepage and go to your creator dashboard. On the left side of your screen, you will see a drop-down menu called “Insights.” Select the bottom option in that menu, labeled “Achievements.”

Once you access the Achievements page, you can see how much progress you have made towards meeting the Affiliate criteria and how close you are to completing any remaining requirements.

Once you have completed all the requirements for Affiliate status, you just need to finish the “Affiliate Onboarding” process, which involves registering for payouts from the website. You can find this in the Affiliate section of your Settings drop-down menu.

Simply follow the four quick steps to complete the necessary paperwork, and you’ll be all set.

As a Twitch Affiliate, you will gain access to earnings through subscriptions, Twitch Bits, donations, and game sales on the website.
