Rumors suggest Cyberpunk may release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S after a live stream reveal

CD Projekt Red to Unveil Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 Versions of Cyberpunk 2077

After the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and the subsequent backlash it faced due to various bugs, CD Projekt Red is now ready to reveal details about the game’s upcoming versions for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Sharp-eyed fans have already noticed that Cyberpunk 2077 has quietly made its way to the Xbox store ahead of CD Projekt Red’s presentation, scheduled for Feb 15 at 9am CT.

The game is now listed in the library of titles optimized for the current-gen Xbox Series X|S consoles. A similar hint was spotted earlier this year on PlayStation when Cyberpunk 2077’s PS5 version was found in the PlayStation Network backend.

These appearances align with the expected release timeframe for the new versions of the game, which was Q1 2022. It is highly likely that the game will be available as a free upgrade for those who already own it on previous-gen consoles. First-time buyers will also be able to purchase it.

Fans are speculating that the game might “shadow drop” during the presentation, meaning it would instantly be available for purchase and play. However, this has not been confirmed by anyone involved with the project and is likely to be revealed only during the presentation.

If you’ve been holding off on playing Cyberpunk 2077 due to its issues on console devices and you own one of the latest Xbox or PlayStation consoles, now might be the perfect time to give it a try. You can watch the live presentation on Twitch here.
