Renegades and TyLoo Secure Spots at FACEIT London Major
Renegades and TyLoo have successfully secured spots at the upcoming FACEIT London Major by finishing in the top two positions in the Asia Minor tournament.
Despite facing less rigorous competition compared to other Minor tournaments, such as those in the American and European regions, both teams have qualified for their second consecutive Valve Major event. This will be Renegades’ third Major in history and TyLoo’s second, thanks to an easier path through the Asia Minor tournament.
Renegades had a surprising setback in their journey to qualification when they were upset by SZ Absolute in the winners’ match. However, they managed to bounce back by defeating BOOT-dreamScape in their group decider. In the playoffs, they faced tough competition from TyLoo and ultimately lost 2-1 in the first round. Despite this, Renegades fought their way through the losers’ bracket, securing victories against SZ Absolute and Tainted Minds.
On the other hand, TyLoo had a relatively simple path through the Minor. They defeated 5Power Gaming and Tainted Minds to advance to the playoffs. After defeating Renegades in three maps, they won their rematch against Tainted Minds, securing their place in the Major.
In a redemption-filled Asia Minor final, Renegades emerged as the number one seed for the London Major. They defeated TyLoo 16-12 and 16-8 on Train and Inferno, respectively, with standout performances from Norwegian player Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad.
TyLoo and Renegades will join compLexity Gaming, Rogue Gaming, HellRaisers, and Team Spirit as New Challengers in the first stage of Valve’s $1 million event, taking place from September 5 to 9. The final two Challenger teams will be determined in the European Minor this weekend.
