Nordcurrent Takes Over River End Games from Amplifier Game Invest

Nordcurrent Expands Its Gaming Portfolio with Acquisition of River End Games

Nordcurrent, a developer and publisher, has recently acquired the Swedish games studio River End Games. This acquisition marks Nordcurrent’s shift from mobile gaming to PC and console gaming as part of its growth strategy. Led by experienced game developers Jonas Nordling, Anders Hejdenberg, and Karl Broström, River End Games has worked on AAA titles like Battlefield and Need for Speed, as well as award-winning games like Unravel.

No Changes for River End Games

Despite the acquisition, River End Games will continue its day-to-day operations as usual. The studio will maintain its name and operate as a separate entity from Nordcurrent’s existing offices. River End Games has been working on an unannounced single-player game for PC and consoles, with a focus on narrative and world-building. The game will be published by Nordcurrent Labs, the publishing arm of Nordcurrent.

Nordcurrent’s Expansion and Success

Nordcurrent’s expansion into PC and console gaming comes after a decade of success in mobile gaming. Their mobile titles, including Cooking Fever, have been downloaded over 500 million times worldwide. Nordcurrent’s portfolio also includes games like Airplane Chefs, Pocket Styler, Murder in the Alps, and more.

A Promising Partnership

Victoria Trofimova, co-founder, and CEO of Nordcurrent, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating that it aligns with their strategy to explore new opportunities beyond mobile gaming. Jonas Nordling, CEO of River End Games, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing their commitment to creating immersive and memorable gaming experiences. Both Nordcurrent and River End Games are optimistic about their partnership and the future of their collaboration in the evolving PC and console market.
