Bridging German Tech with French Media: Playground Enhances Le Monde’s Website
kr3m, a digital entertainment company based in Karlsruhe, Germany, is expanding its global reach with a new project. The company’s online gaming platform, Playground, has been integrated into Le Monde’s digital services. This partnership marks kr3m’s first venture into markets beyond German-speaking countries, with plans to create more global partnerships in 2024.
Playground is an innovative solution for integrating HTML5 games into publishing houses. It is already being used by major publishers and media houses in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, such as Der Spiegel, Focus, Bild, NZZ, Blick, and Kronen Zeitung. As of early February, French audiences can now enjoy this platform, localized in French and tailored to meet Le Monde’s specifications, on Arcade.LeMonde.fr.
Jan Reichert, the Managing Director for kr3m, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Collaborating with Le Monde to feature our HTML5 games is a privilege. This partnership is a key milestone in our international expansion strategy for 2024.”
Playground games are available to Le Monde’s readers without the need for registration, providing instant access to classic games like solitaire, Sudoku, mahjong, and snake. These games can be played directly in web browsers, free of charge.
The Benefits of HTML5 Games
HTML5 games offer immediate and hassle-free gaming experiences on both mobile and desktop platforms. They eliminate the need for downloads or wait times. Casual games not only increase website traffic but also prolong the time users spend on the site, increasing return rates and user loyalty. On average, users engage with the games for over 15 minutes.
The games are funded through advertising, but players can also choose to opt for a gaming subscription. This strategy is becoming increasingly popular with online newspapers, although it is not currently integrated on Arcade.LeMonde.fr. Playground focuses on beloved classics like crossword puzzles, Sudoku, solitaire, mahjong, and bubble shooters, chosen for their global appeal.
