Hospitality and Racing Executives Gather in Tamworth for Listening and Learning Opportunity

Vibrancy Reforms Implemented by the New South Wales Government in Tamworth: A Guide

The Vibrancy Reforms, which the NSW government has enacted, will be the focus of Tuesday’s stop on the Hospitality and Racing Regulatory Roadshow program in Tamworth. Joining local businesses, industry groups, and community representatives—including Aboriginal community members—will be senior executives from the hospitality and racing sectors who will engage in conversations about liquor and gaming reforms, important regulatory goals, and other topics.

A presentation by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner will shed light on the government’s Vibrancy Reforms, which aim to streamline regulatory processes in areas like noise regulation. It will be one of the highlights of the event. Tarek Barakat, the Deputy Secretary of Hospitality and Racing, enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to have meaningful interactions with local industry executives. Barakat emphasized the need of working together to create safe and exciting hospitality experiences.

According to Mr. Barakat, seven neighborhood businesses in Tamworth have joined the Vibrancy Reform program, greatly enhancing the city’s already vibrant live music scene and the annual country music festival. In return for supporting live music events, these venues now have longer trading hours, which further enriches the cultural scene of the region.

Beyond just talking about regulations, the roadshow is a great way for leaders in the hospitality and racing industries to hear what the people of north-west New South Wales have to say about how they can best meet their specific requirements. Recognizing the significant contributions of local citizens and stakeholders, Mr. Barakat emphasized the significance of working together to achieve common objectives.

Engaging with the local Aboriginal community is particularly important because we want to know how they feel about the liquor and gaming reforms and how we can make future improvements and initiatives that fit with their goals and requirements.

As the roadshow continues in Tamworth, there is a great opportunity for industry professionals, community members, and regulators to come together and discuss ways to make the hospitality business in the region more welcoming and inclusive.
