The Shortlisted Games for the Game Developer Awards

The highly anticipated Game Developer Awards, which celebrate the outstanding teams behind the top casino titles in the industry, have recently announced their shortlists. The prestigious ceremony, set to take place on Thursday, May 23 at the Hilton Malta, will gather 300 industry professionals for a night dedicated to recognizing excellence.

The shortlists cover a wide range of categories, including Game Performance, Game Creation, Game People, Streamers, and Casino Platforms. With over 20 shortlisted games available for review, the competition is fierce. The remaining three awards, based on SlotCatalog data, will be revealed at a later stage.

In the Game Performance categories, ten prominent studios are vying for the esteemed Slot of the Year title. These studios include AvatarUX, ELA Games, ELK Studios, Endorphina, EveryMatrix, Nolimit City, Pragmatic Play, Push Gaming, Red Tiger, and Relax Gaming. Each studio has showcased their talent and innovation in their respective games, setting the stage for an intense competition.

Pragmatic Play, a standout in the industry, has secured multiple nominations across various categories. Their game, Gates of Olympus, is in the running for the Slot Legacy title, while their MultiHold mechanic has earned them a nomination for the Game Mechanic of the Year award. Additionally, the studio’s Zeus Versus Hades game is a contender for the Game Feature of the Year and Game Design and Art Direction awards in the Game Creation categories. Blueprint Gaming, Eyecon, Fortune Factory Studios, Games Global, IGT, Light & Wonder, Mascot Gaming, and NetEnt are among the studios competing for the Slot Legacy award.

The Game Creation categories also showcase the ingenuity of 14 companies, including Pragmatic Play. These companies have introduced groundbreaking game mechanics that have redefined industry standards. 7777 Gaming, BGaming, Bragg Gaming, Evoplay, Fortune Factory Studios, Hacksaw Gaming, Nailed It! Games, Omnigame, PearFiction Studios, Slotmill, Spribe, Swintt, and Wazdan have all earned their spot on the shortlist for the Game Mechanic of the Year title.

The Game Feature of the Year award boasts an impressive 15 shortlisted companies, highlighting their unique and exciting features. Wazdan, the winner of last year’s award, is once again in the running. Other categories within the Game Creation segment include Game Licensed Content, Game Retro-Style, Game Design and Art Direction, and Game Music/Soundtrack.

Mascot Gaming, known for their exceptional soundtracks, has been nominated in the Game Music/Soundtrack category with their Dreamshock Jackpot X soundtrack. Alongside their nominations, Mascot Gaming is also shortlisted for the Slot to Watch award with Hook Up! Fishing Wars, Slot to Debut with Crash, Hamster, Crash!, and the Game Composer of the Year award for their Dreamshock Jackpot X soundtrack composed by Maxim Shulgin.

Under the Game People categories, individuals responsible for the success of various titles will receive recognition. This year, the Game Composer of the Year award is extended to honor composers, while game designers and product managers will also be acknowledged. The Product Manager of the Year, Game Designer of the Year, and Game Composer of the Year titles are highly anticipated categories that will showcase the talents and contributions of ten individuals, twelve individuals, and seven individuals respectively.

The streaming scene is not to be overlooked, as three prestigious awards are up for grabs. The Streamer of the Year, Next-Gen Streamer of the Year, and Responsible Streamer of the Year titles will honor outstanding streamers in the casino industry. Casino streamers Brian Christopher, CasinoDaddy, Chipmonkz, Classy Beef, Fruity Slots, GamDucks, Haddzy, Hideous Slots, and Kim Hultman (LetsGiveItASpin) will compete for the Streamer of the Year title. Haddzy will also contend for the Next-Gen Streamer of the Year, while CasinoDaddy, Chipmonkz, and Hideous Slots are in the running for the Responsible Streamer of the Year. Bob Slots is another notable contender in both the Next-Gen Streamer of the Year and Responsible Streamer of the Year categories.

Among the contenders in the Casino Platform categories, WA.Technology, Bragg Gaming Group, Digitain, EveryMatrix, and iGP have emerged as strong players, securing nominations in both the Aggregator of the Year and Platform Innovation of the Year shortlists.
