New Confetti Surprise in Pokémon Go
Pokémon Go players found a fun surprise on May 30. The game showed off colorful confetti for everyone who logged in.
Confetti in Pokémon Go means there’s a big celebration. But, fans were puzzled about why it showed up, as there were no events announced for May 30.
People took to social media and Reddit, worried they were missing out on something big. They had no heads-up about any event.
Turns out, the confetti was for a new timed research titled “Old friends, new beginnings.”
Understanding the Confetti Celebration
This timed research asks players to earn 12 hearts with their buddy, gain 3,000 XP, and power up a Pokémon 10 times. Completing these tasks gives players a Pokémon spawn.
Complete all three tasks, and players get 20 extra candies for Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
During this event, buddies get 2x hearts faster. This makes it easier to level up buddies for better rewards.

Leveling up buddies can get you gifts, souvenirs from them, and a combat power boost.
This timed event runs until June 28. It will still be available after Pokémon Go’s season 11 update on June 1.
