We Opened a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet TCG Booster Box Early and Made Impressive Finds

The Pokémon Trading Card Game steps into a brand new phase on March 31, with the first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet set. This new set introduces fresh Pokémon, redesigned pack layouts, and exciting mechanics. The Pokémon Company gave ESN.GG an exclusive sneak peek at what’s coming in the SV base set.

Exciting Pack Changes

Pack openers, get ready! Each booster pack guarantees “three foil cards.” This makes the journey to the last card of each 10-card pack thrilling. The shiny, holographic cards wait for you at the end, making each pack a potential treasure trove.

Chase Cards Galore

The SV set is loaded with sought-after chase cards. Collectors will aim for the new Illustration and Special Illustration Rares. Competitors should watch the common slots for revamped Pokémon ex cards. These changes breathe new life into the game, bringing both excitement and strategy.

We cracked open a full booster box of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet expansion ahead of its release. Our exploration led us to some fantastic finds, showing off the set’s potential.

Top Finds from Our Opening

Out of 36 packs, two Special Illustrator Rare cards stole the show. The Penny SIR not only looks stunning but may shape future strategies with its unique effect. Another card, the Jacq SIR, features charming artwork of the professor in a peaceful moment. Though not as competitively sought-after as others, its design still captures attention.

Among the “chase cards,” Penny and Miriam are highly desired. Trainer cards like Miraidon ex and Gardevoir ex are also top picks for many. From our pulls, the spotlight shone on a full art Professor’s Research card featuring Professor Turo, alongside Illustrator Rare Bombirdier, Greavard, and Kirlia, plus a full art Magnezone ex.

Plenty of Competitive Options

Aside from top-tier pulls, the set is rich with cards ripe for competition. Elements like Supporter, Item, and Stadium cards are abundant and easy to find. We secured full playsets of Electric Generator, Mesagoza, Beach Court, and others. Our Pokémon finds, including Gardevoir ex and multiple Revavroom, Hawlucha, and Klefki cards, rounded off a strong opening.

This dive into the first SV set suggests promising pull rates and an enjoyable collecting and playing experience. Even without nabbing another high-end SIR or more Pokémon ex cards, the set delivered well.

Remember, this first glimpse was possible thanks to The Pokémon Company providing ESN.GG with the product ahead of its official release.
