Upcoming Pokémon Go Event Begins the Hunt for Zygarde Cells

A big part of the Kalos story is coming to Pokémon Go. Fans of the main series will find this new feature familiar.

New Routes Feature Debuts

The Blaze New Trails event starts on July 21 at 10am local time and ends on July 24 at 8pm local time. During the event, Niantic is launching a “Routes” feature. This lets players follow paths taken by others. It also introduces Zygarde, the Order Pokémon. Players must explore Routes to find Zygarde Cells.

Special Research: From A to Zygarde

This kicks off the “From A to Zygarde” Special Research. It focuses on learning about Zygarde and its powers. Players will get a Zygarde Cube. It stores any Zygarde Cells collected on Routes. Gathering enough Cells lets players create a Zygarde in its 10-percent form. Other forms may come in future updates.

Event Details

The event increases wild spawns of certain Pokémon like Growlithe and Ponyta. It also gives a chance to find Shiny Yungoos more often.

Routes Here to Stay

Routes will be a permanent feature after the event. Besides finding Zygarde Cells, players can get closer to their Buddy Pokémon and earn more Candies for them. Walking along these paths cuts the distance needed to get Buddy Candy by two-thirds. Using Incense on a Route for the first time attracts more local Pokémon.

The other forms of Zygarde will come to the game soon. This Routes debut offers lots of bonuses when the Blaze New Trails event starts on July 21 in Pokémon Go.
