Understanding the Pokémon TCG Live Battle Pass System

A new chapter for Pokémon fans started on June 8. A game called Pokémon TCG Live came out. It has cool Battle Passes. You can get rewards like booster packs, Pokémon ex, Crystals, and Credits.

Before this, Pokémon Trading Card Game Online stopped working on June 5. Then, Pokémon TCG Live took its place. It helps new players learn the game with a quick tutorial. After finishing it, you get the Chien-Pao ex deck. It’s free with the Basic Battle Pass.

Battle Pass Details

In the game, you find two types of Battle Passes. Each one has 50 tiers. You get 100 rewards if you choose the Premium version. The game lasts about nine weeks. Rewards include booster packs and Ultra Rare cards like Wo-Chien ex.

Money in the Game

You use three kinds of money in the game: Coins, Crystals, and Credits.

Coins: You get them by doing quests, moving up Battle Pass tiers, trading Crystals, and leveling up. Use them to buy stuff like Avatars, deck boxes, and card sleeves.

Credits: Earn these by unlocking Battle Pass tiers, leveling up, and getting over four copies of a card. You use Credits to pick cards in the Deck Editor.

Crystals: You get these by completing quests, moving up Battle Pass tiers, and leveling up.

Making Progress with Quests

Playing often and finishing daily quests gives you XP and Crystals. These help you buy either a Premium or Premium+ Battle Pass. Moving up in the Basic Battle Pass also gives you Crystals.

Should You Get the Battle Pass?

New and casual gamers need to play to earn Credits. You can play Casual and Ranked games to finish daily quests. After getting 600 Credits, you can buy the Premium Battle Pass. The Plus version needs 1,800 Credits and unlocks 15 tiers right away.

I found it hard to buy the Premium+ Battle Pass as a new player. I couldn’t get it easily, unlike in some other games. Buying the Premium version makes sense once you have enough Credits. But, the Plus version might not seem as valuable unless you really want those extra 15 tiers fast.

Free-to-play gamers can start Pokémon TCG Live now. They can earn XP, Coins, and Credits. The next Battle Pass is expected to come out nine weeks after June 8.
