Understanding Magic Guard and Its Mechanics in Pokémon

Ability Focus: Magic Guard in Pokémon

Pokémon games feature a tonne of abilities, and it can be difficult to remember them all. Rare abilities are those that are possessed by very few Pokémon.

Magic Guard is one such special talent. Just three Pokémon families—plus one—get it. That makes for just ten Pokémon overall.

Magic Guard is not a straightforward ability and can be confused with other abilities. Let’s make it understandable.

Magic Guard: What Is It?

Pokémon are prevented from taking indirect damage by magic guards. This entails protection against the elements, burns, poisoning, and other risks. But it doesn’t prevent self-harm from causing confusion or belly-drumming.

A burned Pokémon with Magic Guard will still receive an Attack drop but not lose health. Poisoned Pokémon may still become poisoned; they won’t lose health. When fighting, this talent can be quite helpful.

Pokémon that possess Magic Guard can also use a Life Orb to increase their power without losing health after an attack.

Which Pokemon Are magic-guarded?

Magic Guard is present in the Clefairy, Abra, Solosis, and Sigilyph groups. As of right now, the Scarlet and Violet games do not include these Pokémon.

But you can bring Magic Guard Pokémon from earlier games to Paldea when Pokémon Home integrates with these new releases.

Magic Guard: A Unique Talent

In the Pokémon world, Magic Guard is a unique and uncommon ability. Pokémon are protected from many threats by it, yet battles are still thrilling. Players can enjoy this special Ability in the most recent Pokémon adventures in Scarlet and Violet when Pokémon Home updates soon.
