Pokémon OCG’s Ruler of the Black Flame Set to Debut a New Charizard Featuring a Tera-Type Twist

Charizard has long been a fan favorite in the Pokémon OCG scene. It has appeared on various cards over the years, each with unique forms and powers. But, fans were in for a surprise with the announcement of a new set. Named Ruler of the Black Flame, this set introduces an exciting twist – a Dark Tera Type Charizard. The news came via a report from PokéBeach.

Set to launch in Japan on July 28, Ruler of the Black Flame will not only feature this new Charizard but also include card sleeves and a deck box themed around it. Fans can also look forward to a Deck Build Box. This box comes packed with 60 cards, a coin, damage counters, markers, and a one-card promo pack.

Since this year’s Pokémon OCG sets mostly connect to Generation IX titles, everyone expected Charizard to get a new look. And now, it’s happening. Charizard wasn’t part of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet at launch. It only joined the games later through the Unrivaled Charizard Tera Raid Battle Event. Initially, it had a Dragon Tera Type. Now, it has become a core member of many players’ teams. This is hardly surprising given Charizard’s unwavering popularity.

However, not everyone is thrilled about this new card. Some fans expressed a desire for new characters instead of more versions of Charizard. Especially since Dark Charizard cards are not a new concept. Despite this, a number of fans admit it’s exciting to see it featured again, especially with fresh artwork.

In a nutshell, Ruler of the Black Flame brings a dark twist to a beloved Pokémon. With its release date approaching, the Pokémon community is buzzing with anticipation. Whether you’re a collector or a player, this set promises to add a unique touch to your collection.
