Pokemon GO Lunar New Year Event: Darumaka, Minccino, and Shiny Gyarados

Niantic has revealed the details for the upcoming Lunar New Year event in Pokémon GO. This event celebrates the Year of the Rat and brings new bonuses, Pokémon spawns, and shiny opportunities for trainers to enjoy.

The event will run from Friday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. until Monday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. PST.

During the Lunar New Year event, players will have an increased chance of encountering red-colored Pokémon. Additionally, there will be various Pokémon spawning more frequently in the wild, including Darumaka, Minccino, and Spoink. If you’re lucky, you may even encounter a shiny Gyarados.

To further celebrate the Year of the Rat, Minccino will be making its debut in Pokémon GO. This cute and playful Normal-type Pokémon will be appearing in the wild and hatching from 5 km eggs.

There will also be additional bonuses during the event. Trainers will earn double the amount of Stardust when catching and hatching Pokémon. In addition, Lures will last for six hours instead of the usual 30 minutes, allowing players to attract more Pokémon to their location.

For those interested in battling, there will be Raid Battles featuring the red Pokémon of the Lunar New Year. This will give trainers the chance to challenge and capture Pokémon like Charmeleon, Vulpix, Parasect, and more.

Whether you’re trying to catch rare Pokémon, collect shiny variants, or earn extra Stardust, the Lunar New Year event in Pokémon GO offers something for everyone. So make sure to take advantage of the increased spawns, bonuses, and shiny opportunities during this festive event.
