Pokémon GO’s Johto Celebration Event brings back special moves
Pokémon GO players have something to be excited about as the Johto Celebration Event returns with some special moves. Trainers will have the chance to capture Johto region Pokémon with exclusive attacks during this limited-time event.
The event started on January 26 at 10 a.m. local time and will run until January 31 at 8 p.m. local time. During this period, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Mareep, Hoppip, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Lotad, and Seedot will appear more frequently in the wild than usual. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter a shiny Totodile.
In addition to increased Pokémon encounters, trainers can also enjoy an array of event-exclusive bonuses. Evolution items like Sun Stones and King’s Rocks will be available as rewards from Raid Battles. The event also brings back a selection of exclusive attacks tied to certain evolution lines.
These exclusive moves include Frenzy Plant for Meganium, Blast Burn for Typhlosion, Hydro Cannon for Feraligatr, Grass Knot for Ludicolo, and Ice Beam for Shiftry. Players can evolve their respective Pokémon during the event to obtain these special moves.
To make things even more exciting, trainers have the chance to hatch Johto region Pokémon from 5 km eggs. Wooper, Pineco, Dunsparce, Gligar, Shuckle, Skarmory, Phanpy, and Stantler will be available in these eggs. If you’re lucky, you might even find a shiny Stantler.
The Johto Celebration Event also brings some event-exclusive Field Research tasks for trainers to complete. By completing these tasks, trainers can earn rewards such as encounters with Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and other Johto Pokémon.
