Optimal Tera Type for Rowlet, Dartrix, and Decidueye in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Rowlet, Dartrix, and Decidueye are the Grass starter Pokémon from the Alola region. They are in the seventh Pokémon generation. These owls were also starters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. There, Decidueye got a special Hisuian form. They are coming to Scarlet and Violet on March 16. The event starts at 4:00 pm PST and ends on March 18 at 3:59 pm PST. In this event, Decidueye will be the raid boss in seven-star Tera Raids. The raid will come back the week after.

Choosing the Best Tera Type

Players joining Gen IX will need to know the best Tera Type for these owls. Though Decidueye is a Flying Tera Type in the raid, it might not be the best choice for every player. Tera Types can help a Pokémon in fighting or defense. If you want your Pokémon to hit hard, match the Tera Type with their original type. This boosts their STAB (same-type attack bonus) attacks. For defense, pick a Tera Type that fights off their weaknesses.

For Decidueye, a Grass or Ghost Tera Type makes its attacks stronger. Decidueye is not really a Flying-type, but it can still use Flying moves like Brave Bird. A Flying Tera Type also makes it immune to Ground-type moves.

Best Offensive Tera Types

  • Grass
  • Ghost
  • Flying

Defending Wisely

Decidueye has five main weaknesses: Flying, Ghost, Fire, Ice, and Dark. A Steel Tera Type can resist all these except Fire. Steel also fights off many other types. To deal with Fire attacks, Decidueye can become a Fire Tera Type. This also helps it resist Bug, Grass, Ice, and Steel. As a Fire type, it would only be weak to Rock, Ground, and Water attacks. Then, it can use its Grass moves to counter.

Best Defensive Tera Types

  • Steel
  • Fire

Choosing the right Tera Type is crucial for winning battles in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It can make your Pokémon stronger in attack or defense. For Decidueye, Grass, Ghost, or Flying are great for attacks. For defense, Steel or Fire types offer the best protection. Always think about your strategy when picking a Tera Type.
