One Change Could Elevate Scarlet and Violet’s Paradox Pokémon to New Heights

The Paradox Pokémon of Scarlet and Violet pack a serious punch right off the bat. Many fans think some could have been even scarier with the abilities of their original versions.

One Ability, Big Difference

In Scarlet and Violet, every Paradox Pokémon gets either Protosynthesis or Quark Drive as their ability. These powers boost the Pokémon’s highest stat, either with the Booster Energy item or under specific battle conditions—like harsh sunlight for Protosynthesis or Electric Terrain for Quark Drive.

Top fighters in competitive play, like Flutter Mane, Iron Bundle, and Great Tusk, often win thanks to these boosts. A boost might mean the difference between a win or a loss.

What If They Had Different Abilities?

Some think these Pokémon would do better with other abilities. One suggestion was to give each Paradox Pokémon the abilities of the original Pokémon they are based on.

For instance, Sandy Shocks takes after Magneton, which can have Sturdy, Analytic, or Magnet Pull. Fans say if Sandy Shocks had Magnet Pull, it could become a top pick. This ability would stop popular Steel types and any Pokémon turning into the Steel Tera Type from leaving the battle. With Earth Power, Sandy Shocks could deal huge damage.

Weather Control and More

Iron Thorns could get a big boost from Tyranitar’s Sand Stream ability. This would make it tougher in sandstorms, giving it and your team an edge against other weather teams. Although not very popular now, Iron Thorns could see more action with Sand Stream.

Yet, not all Paradox Pokémon would welcome a change. Iron Jugulis and Walking Wake, for example, would not benefit much. Iron Jugulis, related to Hydreigon, would get Levitate, turning it immune to Ground attacks, but it’s already a Flying type. Walking Wake would get Suicune’s Pressure, less impressive than Protosynthesis.

What’s Next for Paradox Pokémon?

For now, Paradox Pokémon are stuck with Protosynthesis and Quark Drive, whether they like it or not. But who knows what the future holds?

These changes could shake up which Paradox Pokémon we see in battle. Stay tuned for more updates and news on these powerful creatures.
