Numerous Pokémon Significantly Weakened in Scarlet and Violet Due to HOME Limitations

Players were excited when Pokémon HOME linked with Scarlet and Violet. However, this came with big restrictions that weakened some of our favorite Pokémon.

Fans who moved Pokémon from other games to Gen IX faced a major change. Transfer-only moves vanished. In the past, Pokémon could bring over special moves from older games. Now, Scarlet and Violet erase these moves.

The Big Impact

A Reddit thread from June 18 highlighted this issue. Fans talked about Pokémon that lose out without their special moves. One big example is Copperajah from Gen VIII. It learned two powerful moves, Power Whip and Heat Crash, that it can’t use in Gen IX due to the lack of TRs.

These moves let Copperajah handle lots of threats. Without them, it’s less scary to foes.

Pokémon HOME Brings Rare Finds

Numerous Pokémon Significantly Weakened in Scarlet and Violet Due to HOME Limitations

Pokémon HOME has let players bring rare Pokémon into Scarlet and Violet. This is exciting but comes with the downside of lost moves.

Other Cases

Kingambit, a new Dark-type, also felt the change. Its earlier form, Bisharp, learned Knock Off – a move that strips the foe’s item. This was handy in battles. Yet, it’s weird Kingambit’s line can’t use it in the new games. Kingambit remains strong but misses a cool dark move.

Mew also faced losses. Known for learning any TM move, its options reduced in Gen IX. This hurts less in competitions since Mythical Pokémon often get banned. Still, it’s sad seeing Mew’s special trait affected.

Hope Remains

Fans look forward to the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. Here, move tutors might return. That could bring back lost moves for Pokémon like Copperajah and Kingambit.

Pokémon HOME’s Scarlet and Violet update may hint at new forms ahead. Major changes in how moves transfer have altered the game. Despite this, the community stays ready for future updates that may restore what’s been lost.
