Niantic Plans to Introduce Z-moves and Gigantamax to Pokemon Go Only if Realism Can Be Achieved

Alolan Pokémon arrived in Pokémon Go more than a year ago, in March 2022. Fans of Pokémon Sun and Moon felt something was missing – Z-Moves.

Where Are Z-Moves?

As we leave Gen 7 and move to Gen 8, with the Galar Pokédex expanding, everyone is asking about Z-Moves. They also wonder about Gigantamax Pokémon in Gen 8.

Insights from Pokémon Go’s Director

On May 15, Michael Steranka from Pokémon Go chatted with ESN.GG. They talked about the game’s new Shadow Raids and the HearUsNiantic movement. Steranka also briefly mentioned Z-Moves and Gigantamax Pokémon. He explained which features might make it from the main series into Pokémon Go.

“We’re always checking out cool stuff from the main series games. We think about how to bring it into Pokémon Go in a unique way,” said Steranka. He hinted that any feature added to Pokémon Go would not be exactly like the main games. Instead, it would be something special, something you can only do in the real world.

What’s Next for Pokémon Go

Steranka didn’t reveal much more, but he shared how Niantic aims to keep things unique. He used the introduction of Kecleon in January 2023 as an example. Niantic waits for the perfect moment to add something new.

As for Galar Pokémon, Steranka kept things vague. He said the team is looking for the best time to bring them into the game. They want it to fit well within the seasons of Pokémon Go.

What This Means for Players

So, fans of Pokémon Go, stay tuned. New features and Pokémon are on their way. The game continues to evolve, making your adventures more exciting. Keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming next!
