Niantic Implements Unexpected Changes to Pokémon Go’s Remote Raids, Leaving Players Unhappy

Pokémon Go’s Season of Hidden Gems starts on June 1. It brings a big change to Remote Raid Pass that surprises many players. Not all fans are happy, saying the change doesn’t fix past issues with Remote Raid nerfs.

Big Update for Remote Raids

From the Season of Hidden Gems on, Pokémon in remote raids will hit as hard as those in face-to-face raids. Before, this bonus only worked during certain seasons. Now, it’s always on. This levels the field for all raiders, no matter where they play from.

A Reddit post on May 30 sparked mixed feelings. Some players appreciated the gesture from Niantic. Others felt it didn’t really help remote raiders much.

One player thought remote raids would keep getting worse. Another said, “They’ve already stripped so much from remote raids, like new content and raised prices. This doesn’t change how tough it’s become.”

Players also talked about how Remote Raid Passes were meant to be more expensive. The surprise was how Niantic limited their use. “The original announcement mentioned a discount,” one player reminded.

The price hike for passes, now twice as much as premium items, was a shock to many.

Feedback from the Community

Despite some calling Niantic’s update “pointless” or just for good PR, others were genuinely happy. “For people like me who rely on remote help for tough raids, the nerfs were a blow. At least this change is something positive,” a player expressed.

Niantic’s move isn’t exactly a “buff” for remote raids, as some thought. What was a seasonal bonus is now permanent. It’s Niantic’s way of saying they might not cut remote raid damage in the future. Yet, the higher price and daily limits have left many players upset.

Looking Ahead to the Season of Hidden Gems

The Season of Hidden Gems, from June 1 to September 1, 2023, has lots in store. Players can expect new Pokémon like Sandygast and Pallosand, fresh Shadow Pokémon Raid Bosses, and other exciting updates yet to be announced.

While Niantic’s change aims to make remote raiding better, opinions vary. Whether it truly revives interest in remote raids remains to be seen.
