Mega Venasaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill Set to Become the First Mega Pokémon in Pokemon Go

Mega Venasaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill are the initial Mega Pokémon joining Pokémon GO

Niantic has announced that Mega Evolution is coming to Pokémon GO, with Mega Venasaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill being the first Pokémon to receive this transformation.

Mega Evolution was first introduced in the mainline Pokémon games and allows specific Pokémon to temporarily evolve into even more powerful forms during battles. In Pokémon GO, trainers will be able to Mega Evolve their Pokémon in raids, gym battles, and against Team GO Rocket members.

To Mega Evolve a Pokémon, players must collect Mega Energy, a new resource that can be obtained by completing Mega Raids. Each species of Mega-Evolved Pokémon requires a specific amount of Mega Energy to undergo the transformation. Once a Pokémon is Mega Evolved, it will remain in its Mega Evolved state for a limited duration.

The Mega Energy required for Mega Evolution can also be earned by walking with a Pokémon, so players can power up their buddies and obtain additional Mega Energy for them.

Moreover, Pokémon in their Mega-Evolved forms will receive various stat boosts, making them more formidable in battles. The boosted stats depend on the Pokémon’s species. Additionally, Mega Evolved Pokémon may also acquire special moves that regular Pokémon of the same species cannot learn.

Niantic has assured trainers that Mega Energy will carry over after Mega Evolutions, making it possible to Mega Evolve the same Pokémon multiple times. They have also stated that they will gather feedback from the community to improve the feature.

The introduction of Mega Evolution in Pokémon GO is an exciting addition for trainers, who can now strive to collect the required Mega Energy to Mega Evolve their favorite Pokémon and unleash their enhanced power in battles. Get ready for the Mega Evolution frenzy in Pokémon GO!
