Kingambit Triumphs in Epic Tournament, Outshining Other Dark-Type Pokémon

Kingambit Rises to Victory

Kingambit Conquers the Competition

This weekend, Kingambit ruled the Dark type world in a big Pokémon Scarlet and Violet event in Fresno, California. The final match was a show of pure dominance.

New Rules, New Challenges

The Regulation C format brought in four new Dark types – Ting-Lu, Chi-Yu, Chien-Pao, and Wo-Chien. However, Kingambit’s spotlight had dimmed, with its use dropping in tournaments. It was even missing from the top 12 Pokémon at the Fresno Regionals on June 11.

A Winning Duo

But Emilio Forbes and Kingambit didn’t let that stop them. They showed everyone the true power of the Dark/Steel samurai. Forbes proved you don’t need a Treasure of Ruin to win a Regulation C tournament.

Kingambit’s Battle Strategy

Forbes used a strong offensive strategy with Kingambit, focusing on Swords Dance and a Dark Tera Type with Black Glasses. This mix allowed Kingambit to hit really hard with moves like Kowtow Cleave and Sucker Punch. The Swords Dance move was a game-changer, letting it sweep through teams easily. This brilliant set up came from fellow player Luka Trejgut.

Expert Defense

Forbes also did a fantastic job protecting Kingambit from threats like Fairy and Fighting types, which could damage it badly. His Kingambit wasn’t hit once in the semifinals and finals while it set up for big moves.

Additionally, Forbes wowed everyone with a smart move in game two of the finals. He used Will-O-Wisp on his Flutter Mane to keep it awake against Amoonguss’ Spore. This clever move was key to winning the match.

This win marks Forbes’ third regional victory. It also gets him a spot at the Pokémon World Championships 2023 in Yokohama, Japan, starting August 11.

Kingambit’s comeback at the Fresno tournament wasn’t just about winning. It showed the importance of strategy and adaptation in Pokémon battles. Forbes and Kingambit’s victory is a reminder that with the right tactics, any Pokémon can shine, no matter the meta.
