Increased Frequency of Gigantamax Raids in Pokémon Sword and Shield at Launch

Pokémon Sword and Shield Gigantamax Raids to be More Common at Launch

Pokémon Sword and Shield players will have a better chance of encountering Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Raid Battles at the game’s launch, according to a recent announcement from The Pokémon Company.

Gigantamax Pokémon, a new feature introduced in Sword and Shield, allow certain species of Pokémon to undergo a special transformation during battles, significantly increasing their size and granting them unique G-Max moves.

During the month of December, players will have increased opportunities to participate in Max Raid Battles featuring Gigantamax Pokémon. This means that players will have more chances to team up with friends or strangers online to take down these powerful and huge Pokémon.

The increased frequency of Gigantamax raids is a temporary event, running from the game’s release until early January. So, players should take advantage of this opportunity to bolster their Pokémon collections with these exclusive and powerful creatures.

In order to join a Max Raid Battle, players need to connect to the internet and activate the Y-Comm feature, which allows them to see other players who are also looking to join or host Max Raid Battles.

Pokémon Sword and Shield launched on Nov. 15 for the Nintendo Switch and have been met with generally positive reviews, with critics praising the game’s new features and online connectivity options.

Despite some controversy surrounding the game’s limited Pokédex, Pokémon Sword and Shield have been successful commercially, selling over six million copies worldwide in just the first week of release.

With the introduction of Gigantamax Pokémon and the increased frequency of Max Raid Battles, players will have even more reasons to explore the Galar region and participate in the dynamic and competitive Pokémon battles that have come to define the series.
