How to Use Evolution Items in Pokémon GO

Evolving Pokémon in Pokémon Go mainly needs candies. But, some rare Pokémon need special items to evolve. Every new Pokémon generation brings new items, making it a bit harder to get the item you want.

What Evolution Items Exist in Pokémon Go?

Right now, the game has seven evolution items. Each one evolves different Pokémon. Here’s a quick list:
Dragon Scale: Evolves Seadra into Kingdra.
Glacial Lure Module: Turns Eevee into Glaceon.
King’s Rock: Poliwhirl to Politoed and Slowpoke to Slowking.
Magnetic Lure Module: Evolves Nosepass into Probopass and Magneton into Magnezone.
Metal Coat: Needed for Onix to Steelix and Scyther to Scizor.
Mossy Lure Module: Helps Eevee evolve into Leafeon.
Sinnoh Stone: Evolves many Pokémon from the Sinnoh region.
Sun Stone: Needed for evolving Gloom, Sunkern, Cottonee, and Petilil.
Unova Stone: Evolves many Pokémon from the Unova region.
Up-Grade: Turns Porygon into Porygon2.

How to Find Evolution Items

Getting these items is based on luck. You can find them at PokéStops. Since they’re rare, it might take some time to get what you need. Spin as many PokéStops as you can to increase your chances. Sometimes, you can also get them by finishing special event quests. The Go Battle League’s “Mystery Item” prize might also be an evolution item, but it’s rare.

How to Use Evolution Items

If you have the right items, evolving Pokémon is easy. Just open Pokémon Go, select the Poké Ball menu, and tap on the Pokémon button. Find the Pokémon you want to evolve and select it. If you have what’s needed, you’ll see a new evolve button in pink. Click it to evolve your Pokémon.

For the Glacial Lure Module, Mossy Lure Module, and Magnetic Lure Module, it’s different. Activate them at a PokéStop. Then, tap on the PokéStop, choose the white space above the spinning disc, and select the Lure to use from your inventory. You can evolve the specific Pokémon as long as you stay close to the PokéStop.

Can You Delete Evolution Items?

As new Pokémon come out, some items might not be as useful. You might end up with too many. You can easily delete them to free up space. Open the game, hit the Poké Ball menu, and tap on the Items button. Find the evolution item to delete and click on the trash can. Choose how many to delete, confirm, and they’re gone from your inventory.
