How to Link Pokémon Go with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

After five long years, “Pokémon Go” players have a big reason to link up with their Nintendo Switch again. Thanks to a fresh update featuring Gimmighoul and special content in “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Violet.”

New Adventures Await

With the latest games, Gen IX, Niantic and The Pokémon Company introduce an exclusive twist. You can only catch Gimmighoul (Roaming Form) in “Pokémon Go.” And for its evolution, you need to send Postcards from “Pokémon Go” to “Scarlet” and “Violet.” Doing so earns you Gimmighoul Coins and other items in “Pokémon Go.” Send enough Postcards, and you score Golden Lure Modules, sparking more Gimmighoul meetings.

Evolving your Gimmighoul into Gholdengo isn’t simple; it requires 999 Gimmighoul Coins. But the effort is worthwhile for this standout Pokémon in your collection. Here’s how you can connect “Pokémon Go” to your “Scarlet” and “Violet” games on the Nintendo Switch.

Connecting Your Worlds

Start in the “Pokémon Go” app, dive into Settings, and find “Connected Devices and Services.” Choose Nintendo Switch, then “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Violet.” Next, boot up “Scarlet” or “Violet” on your Switch and go to the Poké Portal. Select Mystery Gift and connect to “Pokémon Go.” Just click “yes” after a brief loading screen.

Send and Receive Magic

Just like normal, go to your Postcard Book in the Items menu to send Postcards. This time, select “Send to Nintendo Switch.” You must manually receive the Postcard in “Scarlet” or “Violet” too.

To pick up a Postcard from “Pokémon Go,” jump back into the Poké Portal in “Scarlet” or “Violet.” Choose Mystery Gift and “Connect to Pokémon Go” again.

This trade can happen once daily. So, get ready to collect Gimmighoul Coins and maybe even snag a Gholdengo for your team. This update makes linking “Pokémon Go” to your Nintendo Switch fun and rewarding once more.
