Crown Zenith Marks the Final Major Update for Pokémon TCG Online

The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is changing things up big time! Pokémon Company has just announced that Crown Zenith will be the last physical set to hit the Pokémon TCG Online (PTCGO) platform.

Big Changes Ahead

Starting March 1, PTCGO won’t get any major content updates. Why? Because the team behind it is shifting all their focus to the new kid on the block – Pokémon TCG Live. You can check this new platform out globally in beta on PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.

No New Expansions

After adding Crown Zenith, PTCGO will not release any new expansions. The game will still get updates for things like the Versus Ladder rewards and overall maintenance. But don’t expect any changes for the 2023 Standard format or Pokémon Tool card rules as the game phases out.

A Temporary Lifeline

This shift also means all the effort for Pokémon TCG’s online presence is now on TCG Live. But for those who aren’t quite ready to switch to TCG Live due to its beta issues, PTCGO’s last update offers a chance to play with new cards a little longer.

Making the Move

If you’re all in for switching to TCG Live, you’re in luck. You can move most of your PTCGO collection to the new platform by linking your accounts. But remember, it’s a one-way trip and some items might not make the journey, so check what you can take with you before you leap. Eventually, you’ll need to switch as PTCGO plans to shut down in the future.

So there you have it. Big changes are coming to the Pokémon TCG online world. Are you ready to make the jump to TCG Live, or will you enjoy PTCGO while it lasts? Get your decks ready either way!
