Darumaka is a quirky Fire-type Pokémon that could become really strong after evolving into Darmanitan. But many players wonder, can you find Darumaka and Darmanitan in their shiny forms in Pokémon Go?
Since its debut in the 2020 Lunar New Year event, Darumaka has been part of many Fire-type Pokémon Go events. It even got the spotlight during the Lunar New Year 2022 event, despite it being the Year of the Rabbit.
Even though this might sound odd, you can always find Darumaka in Pokémon Go. Here, we talk about its shiny version, including how to find it and what it looks like.
Can You Find Shiny Darumaka and Darmanitan in Pokémon Go?
Since the Pokémon Go 5th Anniversary event in July 2021, both Darumaka and Darmanitan have had shiny versions available in the game.

Before this event, these shiny versions were not in the game. Now, you have a chance to find shiny Darumaka and Darmanitan, if you’re lucky. This also includes the Galarian versions of both Pokémon, which were added at different times than their Unovan counterparts.
What Do Shiny Darumaka and Shiny Darmanitan Look Like?
In Pokémon Go, you can’t spot a shiny Pokémon until you encounter it in the wild or catch it during a raid. This means no Pokémon shows as shiny outside of these encounters.
The shiny version of Darumaka shifts from its usual red and gold to mainly pink. Its other colors lighten up too. Shiny Darmanitan, on the other hand, changes its red fur to a magenta shade, while its other colors stay the same.
How to Easily Find Shiny Darumaka and Shiny Darmanitan
Finding shinies in Pokémon Go isn’t based on the same methods as other Pokémon games. But, there’s a trick to increase your chances of getting a shiny Darumaka.
During special events, like the Lunar New Year 2023, Darumaka will appear more often for a set period. This gives you the best chance to find a shiny. In Pokémon Go, you just tap on a Pokémon in the wild, check if it’s shiny, and if not, you can flee and try again when another Darumaka appears.
There’s no special technique to find shinies. Just try to encounter as many Darumaka as you can when they’re appearing more frequently. This increases your chances of finding a shiny. Once you’ve got a shiny Darumaka, you can evolve it into a shiny Darmanitan.
