‘Am I Supposed to Pretend This Isn’t Suggestive?’ Fans Baffled by Unusual Pokémon Plush Toy

The Pokémon Center is where many dedicated fans love to shop for Pokémon goods. They sell everything from plushies to skateboards. But a recent addition has some fans raising their eyebrows.

New Release Sparks Controversy

The Pokémon Center just dropped a plush toy of a new Pokémon from last year’s Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games. But instead of seeing a Wiglett, some fans are spotting something quite different.

The design of this “Garden Eel Pokémon” has caused a stir. People can’t help but notice its resemblance to something a bit inappropriate. The new Wiglett plush shows this design clearly.

Meet Wiglett

Wiglett was first seen in the ninth generation as a new take on Diglett. The Pokémon Company says it’s a totally different species. Unlike Diglett, Wiglett does not hide underground. It prefers the sandy beaches of Paldea, living up to its name by wiggling around.

Fans were unsure about Wiglett’s design even when it was first shown in September 2022.

And now, with the release of its plush toy, the design has certainly sparked conversation. A Tweet with a picture of the plush asked, “AM I SUPPOSED TO PRETEND THIS ISN’T PHALLIC?!”

A Look at Diglett

For comparison, Diglett also has plush toys available. These are shorter and rounder, highlighting the design differences between the two Pokémon. While Diglett stays mostly underground, Wiglett’s above-sand wiggling is a key part of its nature.

More to Come?

The Wiglett plush is part of the standard Pokémon plush line. Though it’s the only Wiglett item for now, we might see more in the future. Fans are hoping for a slight design tweak.

Despite the talk, Pokémon Center continues to be a top spot for fans. And who knows? Maybe the attention will make Wiglett a surprise hit.
