Get Ready for the Noxious Swamp Event in Pokémon Go
Gear up to explore a world filled with rare Pokémon soon to swarm Pokémon Go. The upcoming Noxious Swamp event is timed perfectly with Pokémon Go Fest in New York City. Niantic invites players to meet Pokémon that thrive in the city’s chaos from Aug. 19 at 10 am to Aug. 22 at 8 pm. This event highlights Poison and Dragon-type Pokémon, featuring the first-ever appearance of Shiny Skrelp and Dragalge worldwide.
Rare Sightings and Shiny Hunts
During the event, players will spot common Pokémon like Zubat and Gulpin more often. Yet, the exciting part is the increased chances to find Dratini, Skorupi, and other rare Pokémon in the wild. These Pokémon, usually hard to find outside of Eggs, might also shine in their Shiny forms. However, catching a Shiny will still rely on luck as their rates aren’t boosted.
Battling in Raids and Field Research Tasks
The event shakes up normal and Shadow Raids by adding diverse Poison and Dragon-type Pokémon, including regional varieties. Pokémon like Alolan Grimer and Druddigon will star in standard Raids. Meanwhile, Shadow Raids will feature Shadow Zubat and Houndour among others. Event-exclusive Field Research tasks will return, offering the chance to catch unique Pokémon such as Trapinch and Mareanie. The task you get will decide which Pokémon you encounter.
Balloons, Candies, and Timed Research
Team Go Rocket will show up more in their balloons, offering challenges and rewards. Players can double their catch Candy during this time and even quadruple it with Pinap Berries. Also, don’t miss out on Timed Research available to all players. It promises encounters with Poison and Dragon-type Pokémon, including the rare Jangmo-o as a reward.
The Noxious Swamp event, running from Aug. 19 to 22, aligns with the Pokémon Go Tour in New York City. Ticketed players will dive into a sea of Pokémon, gearing up for the subsequent global event. This is an exciting time for all players to chase after those rare Pokémon.
