7 Underrated Pokémon You Should Use in Scarlet and Violet’s Regulation C VGC

We’ve watched Gholdengo, Dragonite, and Flutter Mane dominate the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet VGC. Now, as we move from Regulation B to C starting April 1, let’s look at some less obvious choices. The four Treasures of Ruin are bringing new strategies.

When standard picks become too common, it’s time for the underdogs to shine. We picked seven underrated Pokémon perfect for shaking up Regulation C.

Gyarados

Gyarados always finds its way into the competitive scene. Regulation C seems perfect for this overlooked powerhouse.

With Chi-Yu in the mix, teams might rethink adding Arcanine. Gyarados, with its Intimidate ability, fits better, especially now.

Gyarados can take down Chi-Yu and Ting-Lu with Waterfall. A Dragon Dance set turns it into a dual threat, offering both offense and support.

It can also play support with Icy Wind, Thunder Wave, Taunt, and Bulldoze. These moves let you control speed, disrupt foes, or trigger your Weakness Policy.

Ceruledge

Don’t dismiss Ceruledge because of its Ghost type. It can outperform in a meta filled with Dark-types, thanks to strategic use of Terrastalize.

Regulation B showed us Ceruledge’s potential. It can beat Chi-Yu and Chien-Pao by countering their Dark moves with the right tactics.

While it struggles against Ting-Lu, its moves can still deal solid damage. Ceruledge is a fighter worth considering for your team.

Scizor

Scizor didn’t shine as expected in past formats. But with Flutter Mane being so popular, Scizor’s Bullet Punch becomes invaluable.

Its STAB Bug moves hit the Treasures hard. A well-placed Bullet Punch can finish off threats before they act, overcoming Scizor’s speed issue.

Pairing Scizor with a Rain team could elevate its performance, allowing it to handle many opponents effectively.

Slither Wing

Slither Wing has struggled to find its place, but Regulation C changes that. Recent wins show its potential when used right.

First Impression can surprise the Treasures, taking them down quickly. With Tera Fire, it avoids weakness to Fairy types.

Options like Flame Charge or Flare Blitz make it a force. Leech Life and Close Combat offer sustainability and versatility.

Iron Valiant

Iron Valiant has struggled in the past but stands to gain from Regulation C. Its unique typing can challenge the Treasures effectively.

It offers offensive power and a range of support moves. This makes Iron Valiant a versatile addition to any team.

Its ability to counter various meta picks makes it a worthy choice. Moonblast and Close Combat provide flexibility against different foes.

Tsareena

With priority moves on the rise, Tsareena becomes a valuable asset. Its ability to block these moves can disrupt many strategies.

Despite a nerfed move pool, Tsareena remains strong. A Choice Scarf or Assault Vest can enhance its capabilities further.

Its mix of offensive and supportive moves allows it to adapt to various situations. Tsareena can be a game-changer in Regulation C.

Cetitan

Cetitan might have faded from the spotlight, but it’s poised for a comeback. Its moves can surprise and overwhelm many popular choices.

With the right setup, Cetitan can handle the Treasures and other threats. An Assault Vest boosts its durability against special attacks.

Its versatility and resistance to common threats make Cetitan a solid pick. Do not overlook this potential game-changer in Regulation C.
