Venture, Tracer, and Sombra receive nerfs, while multiple tanks are boosted in Season 10 update of Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2: Hero Changes for Season 10

Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller has revealed some exciting hero changes that will be introduced in the upcoming season 10 update. One of the most notable adjustments will be made to the new hero, Venture.

Venture’s play test last weekend provided valuable data to the development team, which led them to confirm their satisfaction with how Venture’s initial kit turned out. However, a few changes are still on the horizon.

According to Keller in a new Directors’ Take blog post, players have expressed their appreciation for the tempo momentum that Venture brings to the game, particularly in terms of engaging and disengaging in fights. Despite this, some tweaks will be made to further enhance the hero’s abilities. The development team plans to shift some burst damage from Venture’s Drill Dash and Clobber (melee attack) into damage over time. Additionally, the vertical knockback of Tectonic Shock will be reduced for a smoother gameplay experience.

Interestingly, Venture’s balance is currently in such a solid state that Blizzard is considering releasing the hero early into Competitive Play. Although the exact timing of this release is yet to be determined, the team believes that Venture is both fun to play and fair to play against. They are eager to listen closely to the community’s feedback regarding how Venture performs in-game.

Apart from the changes to Venture, several other heroes will undergo adjustments as well. Sombra will receive minor nerfs, with the virus damage over time decreasing from 100 to 90. Tracer will also experience changes to make her slightly easier to punish, prompting DPS players to showcase more precision when diving into battles.

For tanks, Reinhardt and Junker Queen’s Ultimate abilities will receive buffs, and Wrecking Ball will undergo wholesale changes. These changes will include buffs for Grappling Hook and Adaptive Shields, aiming to transform Wrecking Ball into a more robust tank with increased defensive capabilities.

Support heroes such as Moira, Lucio, Illari, and Lifeweaver will also undergo tweaks. These adjustments will involve shifting power within their kits to maintain an overall power balance. For instance, Illari will have her primary fire recovery time slightly nerfed but will receive a healing per second buff.

To provide players with more information about the upcoming changes, a new Developer Update video will be released on April 10. This video will cover changes to Competitive Play and highlight the team’s efforts to create a safer and more inclusive experience for everyone in Overwatch.

Excitingly, season 10 of Overwatch 2, titled “Venture Forth,” is set to begin on April 16, marking the official introduction of these hero changes and the start of a new competitive season.
