Pink Mercy and Rose Gold variant added to Overwatch 2 for breast cancer fundraiser

Return of the Pink Mercy Skin

Another day, another Mercy skin in Overwatch 2. This time, the skin gurus at Blizzard are bringing back one of the healer’s most popular Legendary cosmetics, the breast cancer awareness Pink Mercy—with a new Rose Gold version on the way.

A Rarity Among Skins

Pink Mercy is one of the rarest Mercy skins available to Overwatch players, having only been issued once in 2018 as part of a charity partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The accentuated pink aesthetic, unique effects, and ribbons and pigtails it added to Mercy’s hair proved massively popular among the larger playerbase, who had been clamouring for its return for years.

Rose Gold Variant

The same Overwatch skin is finally returning, this time in Overwatch 2, with all proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. There is also a new variation of the skin in Rose Gold for those players who have been pining for it for years.

A Touch of Gold

The Rose Gold version changes the color of Mercy’s wings, staff, and headdress from silver to gold. The skin’s overall design remains unchanged, although there are some minor color changes throughout: The pink and white tones in her dress are reversed on this skin, with the lighter white/pink taking up the center panel and the sides now pink. She is even dyed her hair, which is now somewhat redder than her usual blonde locks and has a pink gradient down toward the ends of her pigtails.

Choices for Players

All the other stuff people loved here, like the pigtails and ribbons, remain the same, giving Overwatch 2 players a solid choice between the original rare skin or an updated sequel version if they’re craving something different.

Pricing & Contributions

The Pink Mercy skin will remain $15, as it did in 2018, while the Rose Gold skin will be included in the Rose Gold Bundle, which will cost $20. Blizzard has yet to announce the rest of the bundle’s features, but the skin will be the main selling for the majority of users.

Funding Breast Cancer Research

In addition to costs, Blizzard released an update on some of the efforts supported by the Pink Mercy skin’s initial run, which collected an incredible $12.7 million for the Breast Cancer Research Fund. This included developing AI for mammography imaging to assist detect breast cancer risk, models to forecast the development of aggressive breast cancers, medications to delay tumor formation, and more.

Support a Cause

If you are in the market for a new Mercy skin, now is probably the best time to acquire one. Proceeds will again benefit the Breast Cancer Research Fund.
