OpTic Gaming Qualifies for FACEIT London Major After Beating ENCE Esports in Europe Minor
OpTic Gaming has secured a spot in the FACEIT London Major after defeating ENCE Esports in the Europe Minor. This victory marks the team’s return to the Major championship, having missed out on the past two events. Back in January 2017, OpTic qualified for the ELEAGUE Atlanta Major but failed to progress beyond the group stage. It’s worth noting that the roster has undergone changes since then, with the current lineup consisting entirely of Danish players.
The Road to the Major
The Europe Minor featured tough competition, including ENCE Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Sprout. OpTic had to face these strong teams in order to secure their spot in the Major. After going undefeated in group play, OpTic faced off against NiP and emerged victorious, showcasing their dominance.
OpTic’s last hurdle was ENCE Esports, a formidable Finnish team. Despite losing the first map, OpTic bounced back with a dominant performance on Mirage, ultimately forcing a deciding map – Inferno. Nicklas Gade, a former player from North Academy, played a key role in OpTic’s victory with an impressive game-high 30 kills, leading the lobby in average damage and rating.
Looking Ahead
OpTic now awaits the final qualifier from the Europe Minor, which will be either NiP or ENCE. Once qualified, they will join over a dozen top CS:GO teams in the New Challengers Stage of the FACEIT London Major, commencing on Sept. 5.
