Zven Offers Insights on C9’s Missed Opportunities at MSI 2023

Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen speaks out about Cloud9’s performance at the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational

Cloud9 player Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen recently shared the reasons behind the team’s underperformance at this year’s Mid-Season Invitational. In an interview with Travis Gafford, he mentioned strategy and team synergy as key issues that affected their performance.

Zven’s interview came after Cloud9’s losses to Bilibili Gaming and Gen.G in the loser’s bracket. Disappointingly, they lost every game in under 30 minutes, failing to meet the expectations set for North America’s top seed.

According to Zven, the team faced a draft disadvantage against Gen.G, and their playstyle took them by surprise. He also mentioned that team synergy was lacking, which ultimately cost them the games.

Zven expressed his frustrations, stating that the team faced multiple challenges and struggled to communicate effectively when dominated by the opposition. He also expressed sadness at not being able to showcase their preparation for the tournament.

Despite the disappointing performance, Zven mentioned that the team will take a break before the LCS Summer Split, which begins on June 1. In the meantime, he plans to continue practicing on the ladder.

Cloud9 will return to the LCS stage on June 1 to face off against fellow MSI team, Golden Guardians, at 4pm CT.
