YellowStar’s Final Moments

The Decline of YellowStar on TSM

Fnatic’s success last season was largely attributed to the shot calling skills of YellowStar, the team’s support. However, this split we have seen a struggling Fnatic and a decline in YellowStar’s performance. While he is still a top tier support, it seems that he is not fully utilizing the current state of the support role.

Champion Pool and Itemization

A closer look at YellowStar’s champion pool reveals that he mostly plays tanky engage supports like Alistar and Braum. This is concerning because of the relevance of Frost Queen’s Claim, which was ideal for AP heavy supports. Other viable champions like Morgana, Soraka, Janna, and Bard have been overlooked by YellowStar. However, when he did play Bard and Janna, he performed exceptionally well against strong opponents.

YellowStar’s itemization also raises concerns. When playing utility focused supports like Bard and Janna, he builds items that enhance his shot calling abilities. However, when playing tanks like Braum and Alistar, he builds the same items every game without considering the needs of the team. Notably, he rarely builds Mikael’s Crucible to protect his AD Carry. This reflects a lack of adaptation in his playstyle.

Comparison to Other Supports

Other supports, such as Matt and Hai, adapt their builds based on the needs of their team. They prioritize items that enhance engage or provide protection. YellowStar, on the other hand, has failed to adapt his itemization this split. This lack of flexibility is evident in games where his ADC is heavily targeted and he does not build defensive items to prevent it.

The Impact on TSM

YellowStar’s declining performance can have a negative impact on TSM. As he becomes weaker, the team may suffer and fall apart. It is crucial for YellowStar to adapt his playstyle to the current meta and the needs of his team. Until then, TSM’s fate will depend on YellowStar’s ability to rise to the occasion.
