xPeke announces retirement following Worlds

Xpeke, Renowned Esports Player, to Retire Soon

Renowned esports player, Enrique “Xpeke” Cedeño-Martinez, is set to retire in a couple of months, as per sources close to the player. Xpeke, who currently plays for Origen in the European League Championship Series (LCS), has had a successful career spanning almost five years.

A Farewell Performance to Remember

As the founding member of Origen, one of the strongest teams in Europe, Xpeke is in a position to compete in the World Championships. If Origen qualifies, Xpeke hopes to make a memorable last performance. According to sources, he has been considering retirement for a while but wanted to participate in one more international tournament before calling it quits.

Following in the Footsteps of Legends

Xpeke seems to be following the trend of many League of Legends professionals, who retire from playing to focus on managing their own organizations. Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez, a fellow Spaniard and long-time rival of Xpeke, retired to grow Gamers2, which now boasts a European Challenger League of Legends team and a European Counter-Strike lineup.

Similar moves were made by North American esports team owners Andy “Reginald” Dinh and George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis, who transitioned into managerial roles within their respective organizations.

A Legacy of Success

Xpeke was part of the very first team to win a World Championship title when his Fnatic lineup defeated the French team Against All Authority in 2011. This victory marked the beginning of a long and successful career with Fnatic, which is considered one of the most successful teams in European history, rivaling Moscow5 and Counter Logic Gaming EU.

Waiting for the Next Star

While the LCS season is ongoing, Origen has not yet started any tryouts or approached potential replacements for Xpeke. However, sources indicate that the team is keeping an eye on the Challenger Series for possible candidates. Two 16-year-old players, Chres “Sencux” Laursen from Dignitas.EU and Luka “Perkz” Perkovic from Gamers2, have caught their attention. These young talents are considered among the best in the Challenger Series and will be eligible to join the LCS before the Spring Split in 2016.
