The Game
Early Game: G2 Early Advantage from Trick
Kim “Trick” Gang-yun and the rest of G2 started off strong, getting three kills after successful ganks, with two in the top lane. ROX fought back by finding Trick in the jungle, but G2 quickly retaliated by picking off three members of ROX. At the 20-minute mark, G2 had control of the game with a lead in kills (6-3) and had taken down all of ROX’s outer turrets.
Mid Game: G2 Makes a Few Mistakes, ROX Looks to Climb Back into the Game
The first drake (mountain) was taken down by ROX after finding a pick onto the G2 mid laner. Shortly after, G2 started Baron and attempted to challenge ROX. Initially, it seemed like G2 had won the fight, with three kills. However, ROX’s Han “Peanut” Wang-ho flashed in and stole the Baron. G2 tried to retaliate and started a skirmish in the mid-lane, but lost 3-1. Just minutes later, G2 found three members of ROX Tigers and slowed down their momentum.
Late Game
After a short pause due to a bug with the Nocturne ultimate sound effect, ROX Tigers aced G2 thanks to a triple kill from Kennen, who used his ultimate and protobelt to deal a significant amount of damage. ROX then secured the Elder Dragon, Baron, and the first inhibitor. After a few minutes of skirmishing, ROX Tigers made a final push with Baron and secured the victory. ROX Tigers advanced to 2-0 in groups, while G2 fell to 0-2.
