‘Why Europe Failed at LoL Worlds 2023: Nemesis Explains It All’

Europe’s Elimination from the Summoner’s Cup

The European presence in the race for the Summoner’s Cup at The League of Legends World Championship 2023 has come to an end. Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek, former mid laner for Fnatic and current streamer, claims to know the reason behind this outcome.

Nemesis believes that the absence of the two best top laners is to blame for Europe’s underperformance. In his opinion, Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau and Martin “Wunder” Hansen are the top talent Europe has to offer in that position.

According to Nemesis, “How do you expect Europe to be a strong region when two of your best top laners, in my opinion, are not playing? GG guys. No shit our region’s gonna be shit.”

Bwipo and Wunder have consistently proven themselves to be top-tier laners who can handle the pressure and skill of Asian players. Not only do they possess a diverse champion pool, but they also have the mechanics to execute incredible plays and teamfight setups that were lacking in Europe’s performance this year.

Bwipo rose to prominence in the competitive League scene with Fnatic before joining Team Liquid. Although he is currently a content creator for Team Liquid, there are no indications of him returning to professional play anytime soon.

Wunder, on the other hand, gained recognition for his exceptional performances with G2 and his unique picks such as top lane Ryze and Gragas. He joined Fnatic in December 2021 but is currently replaced by Óscar “Oscarinin” Jiménez.

Bwipo and Wunder were instrumental in their team’s success due to their deep understanding of League, their willingness to experiment with new picks, their ability to make game-winning plays, and their fearlessness in leading their teams to victory.

As the Worlds concludes, the offseason for professional players will begin, providing an opportunity for Bwipo and Wunder to be picked up for the 2024 season and potentially bring back the glory to Europe.
