Lil Nas X Collaborates with Riot Games for League of Legends Worlds 2022 Anthem
The highly anticipated League of Legends World Championship is just around the corner, and this year Riot Games has announced an exciting collaboration with Grammy Award-winning artist Lil Nas X. Together, they will create the official anthem for the tournament, titled “STAR WALKIN’.”
Anthem Release Date and Performance
League fans, as well as Lil Nas X fans, won’t have to wait long to enjoy the release of “STAR WALKIN’.” The official Worlds 2022 anthem will be available on music streaming platforms starting Thursday, Sept. 22. This is just a week before the tournament kicks off on Sept. 29.
Lil Nas X will also perform the anthem during the opening ceremony of the World Championship’s grand finals on Nov. 5. Previously, he had performed the song on his recent tour, and recordings of the performance have already started circulating on the internet.
Collaboration and Additional Videos
Aside from being part of the anthem’s creation, Lil Nas X has also been named “the President of League of Legends” as part of Riot’s marketing campaign. In this role, he will contribute to the creation of a prestige edition skin for League’s upcoming champion, K’Sante.
A tweet from Lil Nas X also revealed that “STAR WALKIN'” will have two music videos: one produced by Riot and another specifically for the artist himself.
Updated Release Date
Update: The release date for “STAR WALKIN'” has been moved up from Sept. 23 to Sept. 22, as announced by Lil Nas X in an executive decree.
