Vulcan Contemplates Post-Pro Play Plans: Leaning Towards Pursuing Academics

Cloud9 Support Vulcan Unsure About Future in Esports

Esports is growing rapidly and has become one of the most influential industries worldwide. However, Cloud9’s talented support player, Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme, is uncertain about his future in the esports scene.

Vulcan expressed his doubts in an interview with , stating that he may not want to continue working in esports once he retires as a player. He mentioned that while he’s not completely “over it,” he might want to move on and explore other career opportunities.

The possibility of going back to school after his pro gaming career intrigues Vulcan. He even mentioned that being an esports player feels “kinda useless to the world” as he doesn’t believe he’s doing anything significant for society. Therefore, he wants to pursue something in the future that will make a positive impact on people’s lives.

However, Vulcan did mention that he would consider taking an ownership role on a team if the opportunity arises. This has become a trend in the esports industry, with players like TSM’s Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and T1’s Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok stepping into part-ownership roles in their respective teams. The longevity and legacy of players with their teams have played a significant role in these ownership opportunities.

Despite contemplating his future, Vulcan is currently focused on his role as the starting support player for the best League of Legends team in North America. His contributions to the team’s success have been crucial, and as the season progresses, the challenges will only become more demanding, especially with the playoffs approaching.

While retirement is still far off for Vulcan, it’s important to plan ahead and set goals for the future. Good planning, along with continuous practice, can lead to perfection.
