Veteran European Top Laner Joins CLG as Positional Coach

Former European Star sOAZ Joins Counter Logic Gaming

Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, the former top laner for Fnatic, is returning to the North American League of Legends scene after a two-year absence. He has joined Counter Logic Gaming as a positional coach for the upcoming 2023 LCS Spring Split.

A Coaching Staff Comprised of Former Pro Players

sOAZ will be part of an impressive coaching staff at Counter Logic Gaming, which includes former CLG mid laner Damonte and former Immortals AD carry Apollo, both serving as positional coaches. Additionally, former FlyQuest marksman Mash will be a strategic coach for the Challenger roster.

sOAZ’s Coaching Journey

Although this will be sOAZ’s coaching debut in the region, he has previously coached in the LFL with LDLC OL and Mirage Elyandra. He briefly returned to pro play with WAVE Esports in the PRM, but he is best known for his lengthy tenure with Fnatic in the LEC.

During his time with Fnatic from 2012 to 2018, sOAZ played a crucial role in the team’s success. He won four LEC championships and helped Fnatic reach the Finals of the 2018 World Championships against Invictus Gaming.

A New Opportunity for sOAZ

Although sOAZ has faced challenges in recent years with teams like Misfits Gaming and Immortals, his position with Counter Logic Gaming offers him a fresh opportunity to find success. As an experienced star, he will be able to share his knowledge and expertise with the younger members of the team’s LCS squad.
