Veteran EMEA tier-2 team bids farewell to its LoL division

LDLC OL, One of the Longest-Running Esports Teams, Disbands

LDLC OL, a French organization in the European League of Legends scene, has officially disbanded after more than 11 years in the esports industry. The team finished as a bottom-tier squad in the 2023 LFL Summer Split, leading to this disappointing end. The decision came after the expiration of their three-year partnership with football team Olympique Lyonnais.

Over the years, LDLC OL has experienced both highs and lows in Europe. Since joining the LFL in 2019, the team won the league championship seven times and represented France at the prestigious European Masters tournament. They secured the EMEA Masters trophy in 2020, showcasing a strong roster including LEC talent Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié and former veteran support Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim. LDLC OL has also played a significant role in nurturing tier-one superstars such as Crownie, Comp, and Yike.

Unfortunately, the team did not perform well this past season, finishing in ninth place with a 6-12 record. This is a disappointing outcome for the defending LFL champions and a somber farewell to one of the legacy organizations in the EMEA scene.

Despite their recent struggles, LDLC OL remains a staple organization in the region and has contributed to the development of some of the best players in the league today.
