Vayne’s Recent Rework on the PBE
Approximately a month ago, Vayne’s gameplay underwent significant changes on the PBE, which affected her ultimate, Tumble, Silver Bolts, and more. However, shortly after, the update was reverted, causing confusion among Vayne’s fans.
Questions arose: Was the rework not happening anymore? Was it just a small test on the PBE? And why bother playing Vayne if significant changes were looming, forcing players to relearn her?
Fortunately, those questions seem to be answered as her rework recently emerged again on the PBE during the Patch 7.19 test cycle. However, this iteration differed from the previous one.
Changes made to Vayne’s Abilities
The most significant change was to her ultimate ability, Final Hour. In the original rework, it granted Vayne a substantial heal based on the maximum health of the enemy champion whenever she killed or participated in a kill while Final Hour was active. This feature has been completely removed in the new rework.
However, the reworked ultimate still includes a feature that increases its duration by a few seconds for each enemy champion killed or assisted in killing while it’s active.
The second difference lies in her Tumble. In the previous version of the rework, the bonus damage from Tumble could no longer critically strike. In the new rework, this remains true, but the damage dealt by Tumble has been significantly increased at every rank. At the final rank, Tumble will now scale with 70% of Vayne’s AD, up from 50%. Despite the crit nerf, this damage buff compensates for it.
Lastly, there’s a change to her Silver Bolts ability. In the original rework, the true damage dealt by Silver Bolts was increased by 2% at maximum rank. However, in the new rework, the true damage is slightly lower in the early ranks but remains the same at max rank.
Is the Rework a Buff for Vayne?
Removing the crit strike from her Q is undoubtedly a nerf, but the AD scaling has been significantly increased, making the nerf less impactful. Moreover, the nerf to Silver Bolts is minimal, while the ultimate ability receives a substantial buff. Overall, on paper, it appears to be a buff for Vayne.
However, it’s essential to note that these changes may be reverted again, so we’ll have to wait and see.
