Vayne, Lux, and First Strike to Receive Nerfs in League of Legends Patch 11.24b

Riot Games to Nerf Champions and Keystone in League of Legends Patch 11.24b

As the new year approaches, Riot Games is gearing up for the new season of League of Legends by releasing the second half of Patch 11.24, which will primarily focus on champion balancing.

Riot Phlox, a designer on the Summoner’s Rift team, has revealed that several champions will be nerfed in the last patch of Season 2021, particularly those that have thrived with the preseason changes. Additionally, the game’s newest keystone will receive a nerf in Patch 11.24b, likely resulting in a reduction of its overall power.

Nerfs to Kassadin and Vayne

Kassadin and Vayne are among the champions set to receive nerfs in Patch 11.24b. Kassadin has benefited greatly from the introduction of mage-focused Legendary and Mythic items, allowing for various viable item builds. With this versatility, it has become challenging for opponents to counter him, so his damage will likely be adjusted to compensate for his itemization.

Vayne, on the other hand, has been flourishing not only in the bot lane but also in the top lane due to the current state of many ADCs. She is currently the most picked marksman in both lanes, boasting a 53.72% win rate bot and a 51.65% win rate top, according to data from OP.GG, a popular League of Legends stats site.

Nerfs to Dr. Mundo, Lux, and Talon

Dr. Mundo, Lux, and Talon will also face nerfs in Patch 11.24b. Although these champions have not been excessively dominant following the preseason changes, they exhibit significant strengths in their respective roles (top, support, and jungle). Riot aims to promote diversity in these roles and prevent these champions from overpowering the start of Season 2022, especially considering the new dragons and items in the game.

Nerf to First Strike Rune

Shortly after its introduction, First Strike, a rune in the game, will be nerfed. The additional damage and gold offered by successfully activating this rune have made multiple champions overwhelming for their lane opponents, leaving little room for retaliation. While specifics of the nerfs have not been disclosed, it is likely that the gold granted for hitting a champion first will be reduced.

Patch 11.24b is scheduled for release on December 15th. Please note that all changes mentioned in this Patch Preview are subject to alteration before going live on servers.
