V5’s Rookie Makes a $15,000 Donation to Combat COVID-19

Rookie Donates 100,000 Yuan to Fight COVID-19

Veteran pro player Rookie, a former League of Legends world champion and current member of Victory Five, has generously donated 100,000 yuan (approximately $15,720) to support the fight against COVID-19. The news was reported by iCrystalization today. The donation has been directed to the Shanghai municipality’s ongoing efforts to combat the virus. This contribution will undoubtedly have a significant impact during these challenging times, especially as the city has recently implemented another lockdown due to a sudden increase in COVID-19 cases. As a result, Riot Games has decided to postpone the 2022 LPL Spring Split playoffs until April 8.

This act of charity is not Rookie’s first involvement outside of esports. Last year, it was reported that the Korean player had opened a restaurant in the Jing’an District of Shanghai.

Rookie Excels as a Player

Rookie continues to demonstrate his prowess as a player. In the recently concluded 2022 LPL Spring Split, he was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title. Throughout the regular season, Rookie achieved an impressive 7.52 KDA ratio and averaged 608.25 damage per minute, as reported by the LPL’s official Twitter account.

Despite Victory Five’s first-place finish in the regular season, Rookie has yet to compete in the playoffs. Instead, the team has directly qualified for round four of the competition. On April 8, they will face off against Top Esports.
