Uzi expresses gratitude for returning to the stage and acknowledges the concern and support received

Royal Never Give Up Legend Uzi Returns to League of Legends with Bilibili Gaming

After a nine-year career with Royal Never Give Up (previously Royal Club), Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao, the legendary veteran of League of Legends, took a break due to health issues. However, earlier this year, the 24-year-old shocked fans around the world by signing with Bilibili Gaming.

“I really appreciate all the concern and support,” Uzi expressed his gratitude on Weibo, after making his comeback as Bilibili’s starting lineup in a close 1-2 loss against Victory Five. He added, “I hope everyone could enjoy esports and be positive. I’m very glad to go back to the stage. As a professional League of Legends player, I only care about the results rather than the approval of outsiders.”

Although Bilibili’s performance in the 2022 LPL Spring Split has been mixed, with the team currently sitting in eighth place with a record of 7-6, just one win ahead of FPX, Uzi has played three times this year. This includes matches against Invictus Gaming in February and one against V5 in week eight.

League Fans Demand More Playtime for Uzi

Many League fans have been demanding more playtime for Uzi due to the team’s results. Taiwanese bot laner Doggo, who joined from the PCS, has played 33 games this year and has been solid in his gameplay and roleplaying. Uzi fully supports the team’s rotational choices and is happy for Doggo to play as much as possible. “The rotation is reasonable and our team is trying its best,” said Uzi in response to fan suggestions. “We are a team and we share weal and woe.”

Uzi’s Career Highlights and Health Challenges

Uzi was a mainstay in both Chinese and international League until his retirement in 2020. In 2018, he reached his career peak, winning both LPL splits and lifting the MSI trophy in Paris. However, he never won the World Championship, despite playing in back-to-back finals in 2013 and 2014.

In 2020, Uzi announced his retirement due to health issues, including a diagnosis of type II diabetes. He mentioned that he often felt weakness in his legs.

Overall, Uzi’s return to the League of Legends scene has been warmly welcomed by fans, and they eagerly anticipate his future performances with Bilibili Gaming.
